Belt Buckles, Silver, and Custom Leather Goods (Cowboy Hats!)
Nothing finishes a western look like the right buckle, hatband, or hand-tooled belt, and you’re in luck because Bozeman has some true artisans.
Montana Silversmiths Brand Store
14 W. Main St | Open daily 10–6 | Price point: $$–$$$
Montana Silversmiths is the downtown flagship for one of the most iconic names in western accessories. Founded in 1973 in Columbus, Montana, the company is the official silversmith of the NFR, PBR, and PRCA. It makes the gold-and-silver world-champion trophy buckles awarded to top rodeo athletes, so you're shopping the "Brand of Champions" itself.
The Bozeman boutique showcases the full range of expertly crafted belt buckles and jewelry, plus Scully leather accessories and a Yellowstone-inspired collection. It's the best spot in town for authentic western pieces you can gift or keep for yourself.
Bang Bang
718 W. Babcock St, Ste 101B-1 | By appointment only | Price point: $$$–$$$$
Bang Bang is a women-owned hat atelier just off Main Street, where hat maker Kricia Storms (who learned the craft from an artisan in Florence, Italy) has been shaping modern-western hats since 2023. Book a Hat Shaping Experience and she'll size you up, hand-shape a fur felt hat to fit, then let you finish it with ribbon, leather cord, feathers, and pins. Best part? You walk out wearing it the same day, with a complimentary drink in hand while you wait.
The cozy space fits groups of up to eight, which makes it a hit for bachelorettes, weddings, and birthdays. Hosting a larger event? Kricia can come to you!
Crossbow Leather & Hats
127 E. Main St | Hours vary — check ahead | Price point: $$$
Crossbow has roots in Telluride and a team of skilled craftswomen. The real draw is the experience: design your own hat at the Hat Bar (choose fur felt or straw, then finish it with hatbands, feathers, and ribbons), or build a custom belt, wallet, or bag at the Leather Bar from full-grain leather, vintage buckles, and sterling conchos.
They also carry handmade leather goods, bolos, and their own signature silk wild rags designed in-house. It's equal parts shop and workshop.
Rocky Mountain Hat Company
81549 Gallatin Rd #5 | Mon–Fri 10–5 | Price point: $$$–$$$$
Rocky Mountain Hat Company has been handcrafting cowboy hats in Bozeman since 1990 (more than 10,000 hats and counting from master hatter John Morris!).
For a true custom hat, you're measured and a wooden block is carved to the exact shape of your head. Then the hat is hand-blocked and shaped from top-quality beaver felt for a genuine one-of-a-kind (custom orders currently run several months, so plan ahead).
Prefer something sooner? They also keep ready-made western hats and palm-leaf sun hats that you can be fitted for on the spot. It's out in Four Corners, a short drive west of downtown, and worth the trip for anyone serious about a hat that lasts a lifetime.

Cowboy Boots and Bootmakers in Bozeman
No western wardrobe is complete without the right pair of boots, and Bozeman is a genuinely great boot town.
Carter's Boots and Repair
1662 Bobcat Dr | Mon–Fri 9–6, Sat 9–5 | Price point: $$$
Carter's is a local institution, founded in 1994 by Jeff and Lisa Carter. It’s backed by more than three decades of boot expertise. Alongside their own handmade Carter's-brand boots, they carry names like Nicks, Hathorn, Anderson Bean, and Tecovas, plus belts, gloves, palm-leaf cowboy hats, and leather goods.
They'll even build a fully custom pair from tracings of your own feet (expect roughly a year for the craftsmanship), and their repair shop can bring a worn-out favorite back to life. You'll find them on the west side of town, off Huffine Lane.
Schnee's
35 E. Main St | Mon–Fri 10–6, Sat–Sun 10–5 | Price point: $$$
Schnee's is one of Bozeman's most storied names, tracing back to 1946 and still making its world-famous pac boots in a factory right here in town. The flagship store on Main Street is worth a look on its own, stocked with men's and women's apparel, outdoor and hunting gear, bison-leather goods, and hard-to-find brands.
Schnee's leans more rugged-outdoor than pure western, but boot lovers should check out their Montana-inspired cowboy boot, the Drifter. Few shops capture Bozeman's heritage like this one.
Lucchese Bootmaker
131 E. Main St | Mon–Sat 10–6, Sun 11–5 | Price point: $$$$
Lucchese is a legendary Texas company, founded in 1883, that opened its first-ever Montana store in downtown Bozeman in 2024. Lucchese is revered for meticulously handmade boots, often built from fine exotic leathers using techniques passed down for generations.
The shop also stocks apparel, casual footwear, and leather goods. Don't miss the collection designed by Bozeman-raised singer-songwriter Stephanie Quayle, inspired by vintage boots from her own closet.
Boot Barn
915 W. Main St | Mon–Sat 9–8, Sun 11–6 | Price point: $$$
Boot Barn is your one-stop shop when you want the widest selection under one roof. As the country's largest western and workwear retailer and the official western retailer of the PRCA, NFR, and PBR, the Bozeman store stocks cowboy boots, work boots, jeans, hats, and western apparel from just about every major brand, from Ariat to Wrangler. Handy extras include complimentary hat shaping and boot stretching to dial in the fit, plus a promise to ship your size free if it's not on the shelf.

Downtown Bozeman Western Wear Boutiques
For head-to-toe outfitting with a curated, local feel, Main Street's boutiques are hard to beat.
Head West
24 W. Main St | Mon–Sat 10–6, Sun 10–5 | Price point: $$–$$$
Head West is a Montana lifestyle boutique that's been outfitting locals and visitors since 2009, blending classic western with modern style. Upstairs, you'll find hand-picked western wear, boots, cowboy hats, handmade jewelry, and leather goods from brands like Stetson, Pendleton, Corral, and Old Gringo. Plus, the team can customize a hat for you with bands, pins, and feathers.
Downstairs, the shop hides "Johnny + June," one of the best vintage western collections in the state.
Inland Boutique
234 E. Main St | Mon–Sat 10–6, Sun 10–5 | Price point: $$$
Inland Boutique offers a thoughtfully curated mix of new and vintage clothing, cowboy boots, and one-of-a-kind jewelry, and it's the only storefront for bespoke Meshika Hats, custom-made in the shop by co-owner Alberto, a third-generation hatmaker.
Run by Alberto and Kristin (with a sister location in Los Angeles), it's the spot for distinctive designer and vintage pieces, great denim, and finds you won't see anywhere else in town. Keep an eye out for Biggie, the resident shop dog.
Western Goods
33 E. Main St | Hours vary—check ahead | Price point: $$
Western Goods (also known as Stockman's Western Goods) is a newer Main Street shop worth a browse for western apparel and accessories, right in the thick of downtown's best shopping. It's still establishing its footprint, so check their Instagram for current hours and what's in stock before you stop by.
Revolvr Menswear
30 W. Main St | Mon–Sat 10–6, Sun 11–5 | Price point: $$–$$$
Revolvr opened on Main Street in 2013 and has become Bozeman's go-to for men's western with a modern, "cowboy-elegant" edge. Expect a sharp mix of raw and selvage denim, western shirting, cowboy boots, headwear, leather goods, and grooming. It all reads western without looking like a costume.
The laid-back, well-curated vibe and famously friendly service make it an easy stop for guys building out a Montana wardrobe. It has since grown to a handful of other Northwest towns, but the flagship is right here in Bozeman.

Ranch and Tack Shops for Everyday Western Gear
When you want authentic, hardworking western basics (the kind Montanans actually wear every day), these two favorites deliver.
Murdoch's Ranch & Home Supply
2275 N. 7th Ave | Mon–Sat 7:30–7, Sun 9–6 | Price point: $$
Murdoch's is a Montana-born institution where the western wear shares the aisles with feed, fencing, and tools. The Bozeman store is famous for its "wall of jeans that nearly spans a country mile," as well as western clothing and workwear, cowboy boots, western hats, and belts and buckles (including Montana Silversmiths). It's practical, well-priced, and about as authentically Montana as shopping gets (right down to the baby chicks in spring).
Four Corners Saddlery & Boutique
81770 Gallatin Rd | Mon–Sat 10–6, Sun 11–4 | Price point: $$
Four Corners Saddlery is a longtime pillar of the community, serving riders of every discipline since 2003. Just west of town in Four Corners (on your way to Big Sky), it pairs quality tack and equine gear with a genuinely fun western-fashion boutique of apparel, gifts, and jewelry. It's also worth a browse for the year-round consignment selection of gently used tack and show clothing, and the horse-savvy staff know their stuff.

Vintage and Secondhand Western Wear in Bozeman
Want your western wear to come with some history? Bozeman has some genuine vintage shops that are worth the hunt.
Bozeman Vintage
1008 N. 7th Ave, Unit F | Open daily 10–6 | Price point: $$
Bozeman Vintage is the go-to for authentic Rocky Mountain–style western wear, run by a collective of local dealers who each bring their own eye.
The racks span the decades — 1940s westernwear, 1950s dresses, 1970s denim, 1980s tees — with a seemingly endless supply of cowboy boots, pearl snaps, western hats, and vintage Levi's. It's in-store shopping only (no online orders), and it's open seven days a week, so there's always a reason to pop in and browse.
Rare Bird Vintage
18 S. Willson Ave | Tue–Sat 11–6 | Price point: $$–$$$
Rare Bird Vintage is a tiny, beautifully curated shop run by a mother-daughter team, Olivia and Deb. It's the spot for high-quality vintage denim, standout dresses, bags, and the one-of-a-kind pieces that make a wardrobe your own.
Recently relocated to a new downtown storefront on South Willson, it's an easy add to a Main Street shopping stroll.
